When I finished Your Lie in April, I immediately thought of March Comes in Like a Lion.
Mostly the first episode is about introducing Rei as the main character and his average day; including the people he interacts with and his job as a professional shogi player.
The animation is stunning. The effects in black and white, the water and the light bouncing off of it. It took me a little while to warm up to Rei but when he bought groceries and brought them to the girls I started to connect with him more.
My only complaint so far is that we’re not given a lot of information but it’s hinted at a bunch. Sometimes I was a little frustrated with how little I knew about Rei’s past.
